I suggest downloading all drivers from the manufacturer's website before starting Windows 7 Setup, and putting all of the drivers in a folder on another partition (separate from your Windows primary partition). Many times immediately after installing Windows 7, your computer will have a few yellow triangles with exclamation points in Device Manager, and often you have no clue which driver will make the exclamation point go away, particularly when the device is describedĪs "Unknown Device". The networking chipset includes WiMAX (completely useless), there is no built-in bluetooth, and there are no USB 3.0 ports. This post is to demonstrate how each newly-installed driver interacts with Windows 7 Device Manager for the Sony Vaio model VPCEB36GM, manufactured around 2011, but this may apply for other, similar Core2Duo-class laptops manufactured around the same time.
